Integrating Free-Cooling into Your Chiller System - Webinar

02/12/2026

  Clayton Penhallegon, PE Dan Gentry

Join keynote speaker Clayton Penhallegon, Jr., PE, Principal Engineer at Integrated Services Group, to discuss free cooling system design. Free cooling is recognized as a highly efficient method of process cooling during cold ambient conditions, but it is not widely applied because many engineers are unfamiliar with the details of system design. Formally known as waterside economizers, these systems use cooling towers and heat exchangers instead of chillers and can be five times as efficient as a high‑performance mechanical cooling system. This webinar will address basic system designs, operating condition considerations, and practical factors involved in implementing these systems for industrial process cooling applications.

Our sponsor speaker is Dan Gentry, HVAC Systems Applications Engineer at Trane Commercial. Dan will build on Clayton’s overview of free cooling by covering various integrated free cooling applications, including air-cooled, water-cooled, and modular units. This presentation will cover how systems with integral free cooling can provide partial or full free cooling solutions, enhance energy efficiency and help reduce operational costs.
